Request content from a deceased person's Facebook account
We're sorry to hear about your loss and we're working to make sure that your report gets reviewed. Please note that we have fewer people available to review reports because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which means that it may take us additional time to memorialise or delete the account you requested.
We apologise and want to send our condolences for your loss.
Once an account has been memorialised, the content the person shared (e.g. photos, posts) remains on Facebook and is visible to the audience with whom it was shared. If the account holder chose a legacy contact, the legacy contact can control who can post tributes on the memorialised account and who can see those tributes.
In rare cases, we consider requests for additional account information or content. You'll be required to provide proof that you're an authorised representative (e.g. family member) and a court order. Please bear in mind that sending a request or filing the required documentation doesn't guarantee that we'll be able to provide you with the content of the deceased person's account. In addition, we'll memorialise the deceased person's account once we receive your request.
If you'd like to send us a request, please contact us.
