Will people know if I have additional Facebook profiles under my account?
People may learn that the profiles you create are connected based on what you say or do. Your profile may be suggested as a friend to others, and some information on your profile will be public.
As your profiles are under one Facebook account, we use information from all of your profiles to personalise your experience across Meta Products, including ads. You may also see friends, groups and other recommendations based on activity from your other profiles. Learn more about the difference between your Facebook profile and account.
Things to bear in mind when you use additional Facebook profiles
- When you create an additional Facebook profile, its settings are automatically set to default settings. Your notification and privacy settings from one profile don't carry over to your other Facebook profiles. You can manage some settings separately for each profile, such as choosing who can see that profile's posts or send friend requests to that profile. You can update privacy settings for your profiles at any time. Bear in mind that: You can update things such as ads or security in your Facebook account settings.
- People may be able to tell which profiles are yours based on public information on Facebook such as your name, profile picture and more. For example: If you use the same profile picture across your profiles, people may figure out that your profiles are connected.
- People are more likely to discover that your Facebook profiles are connected if you use them in similar ways such as:
- Adding a friend or sending a friend request to the same friends
- Add your profiles as friends
- Joining the same groups
- Following the same Pages
- Interacting with the same content such as posts
- When you block a profile on Facebook, that profile will no longer be able to do things such as tag your profile or see things that you post on your profile. Blocking a profile also means that your profile won't appear in that person's People you may know suggestion. Blocking on one profile does not carry over to other profiles that you may have.
- People may tag or post things on your additional Facebook profiles that could make it possible for other people to figure out that your profiles are connected. You can control what appears on your profiles by adjusting each of your profile's settings for tagging and reviewing posts.
- People who are friends with your additional Facebook profiles may discover your main profile if you:
- Allow people to find your main profile using your contact information. You can adjust your settings to control how people can find you on Facebook.
- Add your Instagram account and main profile on Facebook to Accounts Centre. For example, if you've linked your Instagram account to your main profile on Facebook and someone follows one of your additional Facebook profiles, that person may see your main profile as a "People you may know" suggestion on Facebook.
