Get a one-off password to log in to Facebook
You can use a one-off password to log in to your Facebook account any time you feel uncomfortable entering your real password (such as in a library or Internet cafe).
To get a one-off password
- Send a text message (SMS) to get a one-off password. Check this list to see which mobile carriers support one-off passwords and what number you should use. If your network provider is listed, text otp to their number. SMS messages may sometimes be delayed.
- If your mobile number is already linked to your Facebook account, we'll reply with a unique, 6-character temporary password. If you haven't added this mobile number to your account, we'll send you an email with instructions on how to add it and collect your code.
- Once you get your code, enter it in the Password section of the Facebook login screen. Bear in mind that one-off passwords are only valid for 20 minutes, then they'll expire.
Your one-off password is temporary and can't be used more than once.
Note: One-off passwords are not available if you have two-factor authentication turned on.
