Create a private Facebook event

After you've created an event, you can't change the event's privacy settings. Example: You can't change a public event to a private event.
A private event is only visible to the people who are invited. They can see the event description, photos, posts and videos.
You can choose to allow guests to invite their friends. This means that they can invite others to the event, including people you may not know or who are not Facebook or Messenger users. Learn more about privacy settings for events.
Create a private event
  1. From your Feed, click eventsEvents in the left menu. You may have to click See more first.
  2. Click + Create new event, then select In person or Online.
  3. Add the event details on the left-hand side. If it's a recurring event, click Recurring event. Add details, then click Save.
  4. Click Privacy, then select Private. Remember, you can't change this setting after you've created the event.
  5. Follow the prompts to finish creating your event.
