Jill's Fundraiser for 2024 Tokyo Marathon
Fundraiser for World Vision by Jill Ireland ·
Over the course of my life I have never regretted saying YES to something that stretches me and challenges me for the sake of others. That's why I said YES when invited to run the Tokyo Marathon with Team World Vision. I'm taking on this huge challenge to help provide life-changing clean water to children and communities in the developing world.
Nearly 1,000 children under age 5 die every day from diarrhea caused by contaminated water, poor sanitation, and improper hygiene. But we believe the global water and sanitation crisis can be solved within our lifetimes. ...
$50 = clean water for 1 person
Will you invest in the future and provide clean water for 1, 2, 3, or even more people?

World Vision provides more clean water than any nongovernment organization in the world, providing clean water to one new person every 10 seconds. They work to help communities lift themselves out of poverty for good by addressing issues around clean water, hunger, health, education, economic empowerment, and child protection. Today is a great day! I passed the $10,000 mil!estone and ran 18 miles with 10 mile tempo at MP in the World Vision jersey as a test! Saw all my World Vision compadres out there getting their runs done including Kerry here. Feeling blessed to have impacted over 200 children in the Congo with clean water, and a future. If you would like to join us, Dm me or click on the link below. $50 changes the life of 1 child. In today's world that's pretty amazing! Three Weeks from today Ill be running Tokyo Marathon with my brother and 4 other friends. Here's a quick update on the training and fundraising-
I made it through Peak Week- 72 miles total with 22 on Saturday. The 9 miles today on Sunday felt harder than the 22 yesterday. My legs and body are ready for the taper to begin. A huge shout out to my running buddies Jamie and Stacey for pacing me on the Saturday tempo runs at marathon pace and faster and running part of the mid ...week long run with me. What a difference it makes having someone by your side encouraging you when it hurts. The best part of training are the relationships and bonds made along the way.
The fundraising- Wow- 2 weeks ago I was at $7,000. My goal was to be at $10,000 by end of today- I am at $9,336! That's incredible. Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed to helping me reach my goal. $10,000 translates to giving 200 children a future- an education, clean water, a healthy body who live in conditions we can't imagine. We are making a difference. If you would like to join us, there's a link below or dm me. Thanks!
Photos on the way! Go 49ers!!!!
I am 5 weeks out to the Tokyo Marathon. My miles are up to 65 miles per week with 20-22 on Saturdays. I have 2 more weeks of long miles and hard workouts before the taper begins.
My fundraising is at $7,590 which I think is pretty good. Thank you to all of you who have supported me. I still have a long way to go to meet my goal of $30,000 in under 5 weeks. Honestly, this is harder for me than the training. I love the training... I struggle asking people to donate- how...ever- this is a great cause. Every $50 provides clean water, education, and a future to a child who lives in conditions we cannot even imagine. I would be very grateful to any donation you can make to help me get closer to my goal.
I will continue to provide updates on the training, fundraising and results. I am doing this with my brother which makes it extra special.
Thank you for your support!
