Community chats are chats created specifically for Facebook groups. Note that they are not available to all groups (e.g. commerce groups) or people at this time.
Community chats are a way to have real-time conversations in your Facebook group. For example, you can use community chats to coordinate an in-person event, discuss a topic that's relevant to just some members or socialise.
You must be a member of a group before you can join a community chat in that group. In private groups, group members with access to community chats can find the chat, preview it, which means that they can see its participants and content before joining, and join it. In public groups, anyone can find and preview the community chats, but if participant approval is turned on, members must first be approved as a participant before they can send messages, react and participate in chats.

Note
  • Admins and moderators will be notified when an individual chat reaches its member limit. If a chat becomes full and you're inactive in the chat, you may have to join the chat again.
  • If you can't participate in a community chat, it may be because a group admin has suspended or blocked you from the group. We understand that this can be frustrating. You'll receive a note at the top of the group letting you know when you'll be able to chat again. We also recommend checking your Support Inbox for any additional information about your ability to participate in community chats.
