Create an ad with shop location features in Meta Ads Manager

The original 11 ad objectives in Meta Ads Manager have been simplified into 6 to better align with your business goals. All the same functionality is available through additional settings. Starting from January 2024, you can no longer create, duplicate or import campaigns, ad sets and ads previously created with the original objectives. As soon as you transition from original to simplified objectives, make sure that you pause the campaigns, ad sets and ads that use original objectives to avoid running identical campaigns in parallel. You can create an ad campaign using shop location features to help increase awareness of your physical shops and encourage foot traffic. Ad campaigns using shop location features enable you to target ads to people who are near your physical shops. It also shows local information, such as address or opening hours. The shop locations feature is only available when you select the awareness objective.

Note: Dynamic creative is unavailable when using shop locations.

Before you begin

  • Add your shop locations in Ads Manager. Remember to add opening hours for each shop. You can't show ads for shops that are permanently closed.
  • Create a store set to use store set location targeting. Please note that the user must have an advertiser role on the ad account and task access for ads and insights on the parent Page in order to create a store set.

Create an ad with shop location features in Ads Manager

  1. Go to Ads Manager and select + Create.
  2. Select Awareness as your ad objective.
  3. Complete the campaign details, A/B test and Advantage campaign budget sections if needed and then click Next.
  4. In the awareness section, choose the business Page that you want to promote.
  5. Click the toggle to turn on Shop locations.
    • Note: If there are no shop locations set up on the selected business Page, the shop locations toggle will appear greyed out. Learn how to add shops to a Pages structure. Your optimisations for ad delivery is set to Daily unique reach when using shop locations.
  6. In the audience section, click Edit next to Locations to define who you want to see your ads.
    • Choose Store sets to share your ads with people based on the physical location of your shops. A store set is a group of physical shops in one country.
    • Choose Geographical area to reach people based on country, state or geographical distance.
  7. Note: Store set location targeting is only available when you have created a store set

  8. Complete the placements, budget and schedule and then click Next.
  9. In the identity section, choose your Ad voice. Your ad can come from your main business Page or one of your individual store Pages.
  10. Choose from the Carousel, Single image or video or Collection ad formats.
  11. In the ad creative section, click Add media to and upload an image or video for your ad.
    • If you choose the carousel format, you can add a shop locator map card that shows people the closest shop.
    • If you choose the carousel or collection format with Instant Experience, you can add a catalogue card to show items from your catalogue.
  12. Enter your Primary text. You can select icon to add specific information about each of your shops, such as Phone number or Opening hours.
  13. In the destination section, choose Shop locator to help people find their nearest shop or Open in map to take them to directions.
  14. Choose your Call to action. You can select Call now or Get directions. Calls to action use local information from your store Pages.
  15. When you're ready, select Publish to publish your ad with shop locations.

Note: The Get directions action button is not available with the carousel ad format if you have selected Fill carousel cards dynamically from a product set.

Use dynamic fields to share your shop's address

When you select your ad creative in the ad creative section, you will see default text designed to share the nearest location. This text uses a dynamic field that automatically pulls the address of the nearest shop. The dynamic fields are automatically updated when you edit location descriptions in Business Manager. To edit or add these fields to your ad text, click the icon next to Primary text.
