About local alerts

This feature is currently available to local government, public health agency and first responder Pages in the US and selected cities in Australia.

Local government, public health agencies and first responder Pages can use local alerts to communicate urgent information to people on Facebook.

If you're a Page admin, you can create a local alert on Facebook to:

  • Display the Local alert indicator(⚠️) on the post in Feed.
  • Immediately send a notification to nearby Page followers and people who follow other relevant local Pages.

In addition to local alerts, you can also create voting alerts in the US. Voting alerts are available to state election authorities, some local election authorities and county or municipal government agencies. You can send voting alerts during a limited period of time around an election. Learn more about voting alerts guidelines.

People can see local alerts and voting alerts on iOS and Android mobile devices and computers.
