About Meta ad credits

A Meta ad credit is a form of payment for your ads on Facebook and Instagram.

You can receive a Meta ad credit in two ways:

  • Through periodic in-product promotions or through facebookmail.com.
  • Through partnerships that Meta has with other sites or companies.

Currently, you can't purchase or request ad credits directly from Facebook.

How ad credits work

When you redeem an ad credit, it'll pay for all advertising costs that you accrue on your account. This includes every ad running on your ad account, in addition to the one you created to redeem your ad credit. As long as you're running an ad, your ad credit will be charged daily until it runs out or expires.

If you have a campaign-level ad credit, your campaign will draw from this balance first. If your campaign is still ongoing when the campaign-level ad credit is gone, it will draw from your account-level ad credits or default payment method. Note: This feature might not be available to you at the moment.

Monthly invoicing ad accounts can now activate ad credit at the account or campaign-level via Ads Manager payment settings. The feature exists within the step to activate an ad credit. In addition to account-level activation, you may now assign the ad credit to one or multiple campaigns in the ad account. By doing so, coupon spend will be limited to those selected campaign(s).

Depending on the ad credit, you may be able to switch the ad credit to account level or change the campaign ID(s) associated with it in the Assigned to campaigns subsection below Account ad credits section. You may find Edit campaign by clicking on the More options (three horizontal dots) icon, where a pop-up window will prompt you to make the selection to apply the ad credit's existing balance towards ad account level or other campaigns. Once you've saved those changes, the ad credit will now be available to spend towards the new campaigns or account level.

If you use monthly invoicing to pay for your ads, you can assign campaign-level ad credits to one or multiple ad campaigns. Your campaign will draw from this balance first. If your campaign is still ongoing when the campaign-level ad credit is gone, it will draw from your account-level ad credits or default payment method.

An ad credit can't pay for any advertising costs that you accrued before it was added to your account. Those costs, as well as costs you accrue after your ad credit is gone, will be charged to the default payment method on your ad account.

Remember that your total daily ad spend will never exceed your daily budget. If you don't want to spend more than your ad credit is worth, set up a campaign spending limit or an account spending limit.
