About account spending limits

Account spending limits aren't available for ad accounts set up for prepaid funds. If you add money to a prepaid balance to run your ads, you won't see an option to create an account spending limit.

An account spending limit is an adjustable lifetime limit on the amount that your ad account can spend across all of the ad campaigns that you're running from the time that the limit is set.

Setting an account spending limit helps to control your costs and make sure that you don't spend more on ads than you want to. By setting an account limit that reflects your overall advertising budget, you can achieve the best results for your business.

Once you've created an account spending limit, you can track the amount you're spending towards it in your Payment settings.

Your account spending limit doesn't affect the delivery or performance of your ads. However, when the amount spent reaches your current limit, your ads pause and stop spending money. You'll get a notification about the pause but your ads will still be listed as active in Meta Ads Manager. If you want to resume your active ads immediately, you can:

For example, at the beginning of the month, you set your account spending limit to USD 100 to match your monthly budget. As you run your ads throughout the month, your amount spent rises until you reach the current limit of USD 100. All of your ads pause and we send you a notification informing you that you've reached your account spending limit. If you want your ads to resume immediately, go to your payment settings to raise or remove your account spending limit. Otherwise, go to your payment settings to reset the amount spent towards your limit to match your advertising budget when you're ready.

You may have the option to set up an automatic reset to your account spend limit on the 1st of every month, in addition to the lifetime account spend limit, which is manually reset.
