About advertising on Instagram

If you choose an objective that supports Instagram when you create your ad, your placements will automatically include Instagram. It's a good idea to run ads on both Facebook and Instagram for the following reasons:

  • Optimised delivery: Our delivery system works best with more people to choose from. If you select Facebook and Instagram, we can get your ads to the best people at the lowest cost.
  • Engaged audiences: Many people visit Instagram for inspiration. New ad formats such as Instagram Stories present a significant opportunity for advertisers.   • Easy setup: You don't need to set up an Instagram account for your business if you don't have time. Your Facebook Page can be used to run your ad on Instagram.

You also don't need to create different content for Instagram. Research shows that if content performs well in Facebook Feed, it generally performs well in Instagram feed, too. Instagram requires slightly different image and video specs, such as aspect ratio. But Meta Ads Manager allows you to upload different Facebook and Instagram ad creative within the same ad set.
