  2. Choose an objective that supports ads in stories:
    • Awareness
    • Traffic
    • Engagement
    • Leads
    • App promotion
    • Sales

Note: There may be some exclusions or limitations based on your conversion location, optimisation goal or engagement type.

  1. Click Continue.
  2. Choose specific details about the audience you would like your ad to reach.
  3. Stories are included in Meta Advantage+ placements (previously known as automatic placements) when you select a compatible objective. To view all of your placements, select Edit placements.
    • Instagram Stories is available as a stand-alone placement. You can include Facebook and Messenger Stories, as long as Instagram Stories or Facebook feed are also selected.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Choose the Facebook Page and Instagram account (optional) that represents your business.
  6. Choose Single image or Single video as the ad format.
  7. Add any images or videos to your ad and finish adding any remaining details. Make sure that your images or videos meet the minimum aspect ratio and length requirements.
    • If you choose an image, you can use Stories templates, a free design tool which allows you to customise your creative into a vertical Stories animation.
    • You can also create Stories mock-ups in Meta Creative Hub.

After reviewing your ad, select Publish.

Note: You do not need to boost your Facebook story if you've already boosted the Instagram placement of that same story. Conversely, you do not need to boost your Instagram story if you've already boosted the Facebook placement of that same story. Boosting either story will allow you to run the ad across the platforms that you choose.

  1. Tap on the Stories tab.
  2. Make sure that the drop-down menu is selected to Active. If it's selected, you can view active, or published, stories.
  3. Tap on the Boost story button under the Facebook or Instagram story that you want to promote. If you want to boost a previously boosted story, click Boost again.
  4. Customise your ad on the next screen by choosing your budget, specific details about the audience you would like your ad to reach and how long you want your ad to run for.
  5. Click Boost story now.
