About ads in Messenger

The original 11 ad objectives in Meta Ads Manager have been simplified into 6 to better align with your business goals. All the same functionality is available through additional settings. Starting from January 2024, you can no longer create, duplicate or import campaigns, ad sets and ads previously created with the original objectives. As soon as you transition from original to simplified objectives, make sure that you pause the campaigns, ad sets and ads that use original objectives to avoid running identical campaigns in parallel. There are two advertising options within Messenger.

• Ads in Messenger inbox appear in Messenger inbox between conversations.
• Ads in Messenger Stories appear in Messenger inbox between stories.

Ads in Messenger inbox are automatically delivered to the placement that's most likely to deliver campaign results at the lowest cost. When you create ads in Messenger, you can reach people based on what they include in their profiles, Pages, groups and other connections on Facebook and Instagram.

Note: Ads in Messenger inbox are currently unavailable in the US, Canada, Australia and France. Advertisers targeting those countries should continue to opt into Meta Advantage+ placements or as many placements as possible.
