How do I get recertified?

Your certification expires two years from the date it was issued and you become eligible for recertification six months before your certification expiry date.

To renew your certification you will need to retake the 100-101 Meta Certified Digital Marketing Associate exam.

Please note the following:

  • The exam has 60 questions and is 90 minutes long.
  • The passing score is 700 out of 1,000.
  • There is a five-day waiting period to retake the exam if you don't pass.
  • You have access to free study materials.

To retake the exam, schedule an exam appointment. After passing the exam, you'll receive a recertification confirmation email.

You have two options to recertify during this period:

Option 1: Complete online courses and assessment (refresh).

If you choose this option, please note the following:

  • The refresh option is available prior to the certification expiry date only.
  • The online courses are self-paced and should take approximately two hours to complete.
  • Both the courses and assessment are unproctored and only available online.
  • The assessment is pass or fail.
  • You may retake the assessment after a 24-hour period. Retakes are unlimited, as long as your certification hasn't lapsed.

To start your refresh, go to CertMetrics and click Schedule an exam. Next to the exam name, click Refresh.

You have two options to recertify during this period:

Option 1: Publish three effects.

If you choose to recertify by publishing three effects, your effects must meet the following requirements:

  • The effects must be published by the Facebook profile that you use to log into Meta Spark Hub. This should be the same Facebook profile that you use for single sign-on (SSO) to your CertMetrics account. Effects published by Instagram or business accounts do not qualify for recertification. To switch to your Facebook profile, from the Meta Spark Hub profile menu, select Switch owner and select your Facebook profile.
  • The effects must be published within your recertification period. Your recertification period is the six months before your certification expiry date. For example, if your certification expires on 31 December 2023, your recertification period is 1 July 2023 to 31 December 2023.
  • At least one of your effects must be a world effect that uses plane tracker or target tracker.
  • The effects must only be created by you, not in collaboration with others.
  • As with all effects, the effects must comply with Meta Spark Policies.

Once three qualifying effects have been published, your certification status will be automatically updated. Please allow up to 48 hours after publishing your effects for your certification status to be updated. You will receive a recertification confirmation email.
