Meta ads review

Meta ad review

In order to help our advertisers better understand the ad review process, our policies and how our enforcement system works, we've developed this guide to help you learn how to prevent and resolve issues so you can focus on growing your business.

How does the Meta ads review process work?

The ad review system reviews for violations of policies outlined in our Advertising Standards before they go live. This review process may include looking at images, video, text and targeting information, as well as an ad's destination, such as a landing page or website.

Our system relies primarily on automation to apply our policies to the ads that run across our apps. However, we do use human reviewers to improve and train our automated systems, and in some cases, to manually review ads.

How long does the Meta ad review take?

While ad review is typically completed within 24 hours, it may take longer and ads can be reviewed again, including after they've gone live. If an ad is rejected, an advertiser can create a new ad – either with new ad creative or by revising the rejected ad – or request another review if they believe their ad was incorrectly rejected.

These changes or edits to ads may result in another review:

  • Targeting
  • Creative (for example, images, text, links or videos)
  • Optimisation
  • Billing event

Advertising account restrictions

To support meaningful connections and experiences on our platform, we monitor and investigate the behaviour of advertisers and sellers on Meta technologies. In certain scenarios, we may place restrictions on businesses that limit their ability to advertise or sell on Meta. We consider whether an advertiser is:

  • Severely or repeatedly violating our policies.
  • Evading or attempting to evade our review process and enforcement actions.
  • Using inauthentic user accounts to set up business assets and run ads across our technologies.
  • Managing business assets that are connected to other abusive assets or displaying behaviour similar to business assets we've already taken down.

If you believe that your ad account, user account, Page or business account was incorrectly restricted, you can request a review of the decision in Business Support Home.

Typically, our review is completed in 48 hours, although it may take longer in some cases.

You will be notified of our decision via email. If we review your account and find that the activity is acceptable under our policies, your account will be reinstated and you will be able to advertise again.
