Why some ads are approved, then rejected
Our Advertising Standards are requirements that advertisers must follow when they run ads on our platforms. They're designed to help protect people from poor ad experiences, and help to support more meaningful connections between people and businesses.
While we rely primarily on automated technology to apply our Advertising Standards to the millions of ads that run on our platforms, we have individual reviewers that work to improve and train our automated technology, and in some cases, manually review ads.
Previously approved ads can be selected for another review for various reasons, including if people hide, block, report or otherwise provide negative feedback about an ad, all of which could help indicate that we missed something during the review process. For example:
- It could be done at random to help us ensure accuracy.
- If it receives unexpectedly high levels of engagement, especially when people block or hide ads.
- If we missed something during the review process, we use a combination of signals, including reports from people, to help identify the cause.
If your ad is going through another review, you won't be notified unless it's found to violate our Advertising Standards. If it does violate our policies, it'll be rejected and we'll stop delivery of the ad.
