Checkout methods and eligibility requirements for Shops on Facebook and Instagram

Beginning 10 August 2023, you'll no longer be able to host a shop on your Facebook or Instagram account or use Facebook product tagging in posts.Learn more.
When you set up a shop, you may be able to select whether you want people to complete their purchases on your own website, on Facebook or Instagram or via direct message. All checkout methods require you to:
- Meet the Commerce Eligibility Requirements.
- Have a shop on Facebook or Instagram.
Note: Campaigns and political entities may be unable to use checkout given certain applicable campaign finance rules governing political contributions or payments to political entities. Sellers are responsible for determining whether our services are suitable for their uses.
What you'll need
Checkout on Facebook and Instagram
Note: Checkout on Facebook and Instagram is only available to businesses in the US. You will need a US bank account and business address to set up your shop with checkout.
You will need the following information to set up checkout on Facebook or Instagram:
- Business category and type
- A business address in the US
- US bank account details for collecting payouts
- A federal tax identification number that matches the business representative's name for financial reporting
- A business representative's personal or business identity information to verify the authenticity of the business
- Delivery options, return policy and a customer service email address to set up customer service
Requirements for checkout on Facebook
- If you don't have a catalogue or commerce account yet, you can create these when you set up your shop.
- If you already have a Page and catalogue that you want to use for your shop:
- You'll need Manage Page permissions for your Page.
- You'll need Manage catalogue permissions for the catalogue in Business Manager.
- If a catalogue is shared with you, you can select it when you set up your shop.
- If you manage your Page or catalogue in a Business Manager account, you need to be an admin on the account.
- Make sure that your commerce account is connected to your Page and catalogue.
Requirements for checkout on Instagram
- You will need to add your Instagram business account to your Business Manager. Learn how to convert your personal profile to a business account or creator account and add an Instagram account to your Business Manager.
- If you don't have a catalogue or commerce account yet, you can create these when you set up your shop.
