Troubleshoot why you can't delete your business portfolio

The Meta business account, sometimes called a Business Manager account, is being renamed to business portfolio. This change will appear gradually across Meta technologies.

You may receive an error message if you try to delete your business portfolio in Meta Business Manager without taking some necessary steps. For example, you can't delete businesses with several ad accounts, Pages, people and other connections unless you remove some of those connections first.

You may be unable to delete your business portfolio in Business Manager for the following reasons:

• Ad accounts: Confirm that you have no outstanding ad account balances. If you have balances to pay, remember that it can take up to two weeks to process. All ad accounts must also be in adherence to our advertising standards. Get help with a disabled ad account.
• Payment methods: Remove all payment methods added to your business.
• Apps: Remove all apps added to your business.
• Pages and people: Reduce the number of Pages and people connected to your business. When you remove Pages from your business portfolio, make sure that each Page has at least one person with full control of it. Otherwise, everyone will lose access to the Page.
• Systems users: If your business portfolio has system users, it cannot be deleted. Learn more about system users in Business Manager.
• Instagram professional account: If you have an Instagram professional account (business account or creator account) in your Business Manager, you can't delete it. You must have at least one business portfolio if you have an Instagram professional account. If you switch your Instagram professional account to a regular Instagram account, you won't need to have a business portfolio and can delete it.
• WhatsApp Business account: If a WhatsApp Business Account with at least one linked phone number is connected to your business portfolio, you must first remove the WhatsApp account before you can delete your business portfolio.
• Lead ads: If you turned on customised lead access for a Page in your business portfolio, you can't delete your business portfolio. Someone with full control of the business portfolio can restore the default lead access in the Integrations section of your settings. From Integrations, select Leads access. Then, select a Page with customised lead access and click Restore default access. Someone who has full control of the business portfolio will need to restore default access for all Pages with custom access.
• Ads about social issues, elections or politics (US): If you used a business portfolio to create a disclaimer, you can't delete that business portfolio. If you remove the disclaimer from all Pages, you still won't be able to delete your business portfolio.

If you don't want to delete your business portfolio permanently, you can deactivate your ad accounts.
