About business verification

Meta Verified for businesses is a paid subscription service. Learn more and sign your business up for Meta Verified.

To access certain products, Meta may ask you to verify your business. This process helps us confirm that your Business Account belongs to a legitimate business or organisation. Not all businesses need to complete verification. You'll only need to verify your business if you want to access certain Meta technologies or developer features.

Business verification helps ensure that:

  • Your business is a legal entity. You'll need to have your business registered with the local authorities, and you'll need an official phone number or postal address for your business.
  • You're an authorised representative of your business. You'll need to be able to receive a verification code sent to the phone number or email address for your business, or use the domain verification process.

Note: The Meta business account, sometimes called a Business Manager account, is being renamed to business portfolio. This change will appear gradually across Meta technologies.

Products that require business verification

You'll only need to verify your business if you want to access certain Meta technologies or developer features. If you can't see a Start verification button in Security Centre in Business settings, but believe you need to be verified, see below to confirm if the product or feature you want to access requires verification. Depending on the product or feature, you may be notified to start the verification process from a location other than Security Centre.

Note: This list includes common products or features that require verification, but may not be exhaustive.

Eligible developer features

Business verification is required for obtaining advanced access for any permission on the Meta Developer Platform.

Additionally, Meta Quest developers can satisfy the organisation verification requirement by completing business verification in the Meta Quest Org Manager.

Meta Business Partners (MBPs)

To apply and participate as a badged partner, you'll need to verify your business. If a partner loses their status as a verified business, they may be removed from the programme unless they're able to address the issue in a timely manner. Learn more about Meta Business Partners.

If you want to access accounts that are shared to your Business Manager, you'll need to complete business verification. Learn more about business verification for China agencies.

Shops

If you have a Shop on Facebook or Instagram, you may be required to verify your business in Commerce Manager. If applicable, you will see an option to complete verification in Commerce Manager, Ads Manager or the Shopify Meta app. Certain regulatory requirements for consumer protection require Meta to collect and display additional business information from sellers on Facebook and Instagram. If applicable to your business, you will need to verify your business and will be notified.

Financial services advertisers

To help prevent fraud and impersonation in financial products or services advertising, Meta may ask you to provide additional information to confirm that your business is authorised by the relevant regulatory body to advertise financial products or services. These requirements are intended to promote consumer safety. Learn more about verification requirements that may affect financial services advertisers.

Remember:

  • Business verification is different from the verified badge on Facebook, personal identity confirmation and the verified badge on Instagram. You won't receive a verified badge for business verification.
  • If you provide false or misleading information during your verification process, attempt to claim and verify a business that you aren't authorised to represent, or otherwise attempt to circumvent our verification review systems, Meta may prevent your business from being verified, remove your business's verification status or take additional action on the account.
