Create offline event sets

Creating an offline event set is one of the first steps to help you understand how much your Meta ads lead to in-store events.

To create an offline event set:

  1. Go to Events Manager.
  2. Navigate to the green plus sign and select Connect data sources.
  3. Select Offline and then Connect.

Note: You may see the option to create a dataset. If you want to create a dataset instead of an offline event set, you can skip this article and go to the Create a dataset during offline event set creation section in our instructions on how to create a dataset.

  4. Name your offline event set and add a description if you wish. Then select Create.
  5. Select which ad accounts that you want to track ad performance using this offline event set.
  6. You can turn on auto-tracking so that new ads you create will default to this offline event set. You can also turn on auto-assignment so that new ad accounts will automatically be assigned to this event set.
  7. Select Next.

Now that you've created your offline event set, you can start adding people to it and managing your permission settings.

You can also upload offline event data and begin to measure the real-world impact of your ads. You have 90 days from an ad impression to upload that data. If you create an offline event set and haven't uploaded any data within 90 days, your timeline for uploading data is reduced to 35 days. Once you've uploaded data within 35 days, you will go back to having 90 days to upload data. We do recommend uploading data daily.

Note: If you're a new business, you may get a default event set automatically created and assigned to your ad accounts, depending on your business type. If you see one when you go to Events Manager, select Details to view and manage it.
