Verify your domain in business settings

Meta Verified for businesses is a paid subscription service. Learn more and sign your business up for Meta Verified.
Verifying your business's domain in Business settings is a way to help us confirm that you're connected to your business.
You'll only need to verify subdomains when you're onboarding to Facebook Commerce.
Before you begin
- You must have a business portfolio in Meta Business Manager.
- You must have full control of the business portfolio.
- You must have admin or developer access to your domain.
Note: The Meta business account, sometimes called a Business Manager account, is being renamed to business portfolio. This change will appear gradually across Meta technologies.
Verify your domain in business settings
- Go to Domains in the Brand safety section of Business settings.
- Click Add to add a new domain.
- Enter in the root domain without any prefixes. For example, enter website.com, not www.website.com or https://website.com.
- Click Add.
- Select one of the following options to verify your domain:
- Add a meta-tag to your HTML source code
- Copy the meta-tag that you see on your Business settings screen.
- Open your website's home page HTML source.
- Paste the meta-tag into the <head>....</head> section of the HTML code, and publish the page.
- Go to the root domain of your website, and view the HTML source to confirm that the meta-tag is there.
- Upload an HTML file to your root directory
- Download the HTML verification file that's linked on your Business settings screen. Remember, don't make any changes to the file after you've downloaded it.
- Upload the HTML file to the root directory of your domain.
- Go back to Business settings, and click on the link in step 3 to confirm that you can see the verification code on your website.
- Update the DNS TXT record with your domain registrar
- Go to your domain registrar and log in.
- Go to the DNS records section.
- Go back to your Business settings screen and copy the TXT record in step 2.
- Add the TXT record in your DNS configuration by following the instructions from your domain registrar.
- Use a DNS TXT lookup tool to confirm that the TXT record has been updated across your servers.
- Click Verify domain on your Business settings screen.
If we can't verify your domain, you'll see an error message. Learn more about how to troubleshoot if domain verification fails.
Once your domain has been verified, you can remove the meta-tags, DNS TXT records and HTML files and it won't affect your verification status.
