How to set up a shop on Facebook and Instagram

Beginning 10 August 2023, you'll no longer be able to host a shop on your Facebook or Instagram account or use Facebook product tagging in posts.Learn more.

With Shops, you can display and sell products on Facebook and Instagram. People who visit your shop can browse your products, make purchases and get to know your brand. You'll create your shop in Commerce Manager – a tool that you use to manage your inventory and sales on Facebook and Instagram.

If you're a Shopify seller, you can easily create shops on Facebook and Instagram and use Shops ads to promote your products.

Before you begin

  • If you don't have a Facebook business Page or catalogue yet: You can create both when you set up your shop.
  • If you already have a Page and catalogue that you want to use for your shop: You must have full control of the account if you manage your Page and catalogue in a business account. Make sure that you also have Manage permissions for both the Page and catalogue. Learn more about managing access and permissions for a business account.
  • If you want to make your shop visible on Instagram: You'll also need an Instagram business account. Your business account must own the Instagram business account that it's connected to. If you only want to sell using a shop on Instagram, you don't need to create or provide a Facebook business Page when creating your shop in Commerce Manager.
