Create ads that click to WhatsApp in Ads Manager


Certain messaging-related metrics, ad campaigns and organic messaging features for businesses and ads delivered to and from Europe, Japan and South Korea will be unavailable.
You can add a Send message button to your Facebook or Instagram ads that will open a conversation thread in the WhatsApp Business App. This allows customers to connect with your business on WhatsApp after clicking the button on your ad.
Before you begin
- Create a business account by downloading the WhatsApp Business app or integrate with the WhatsApp Business API.
- Connect your WhatsApp account to your Facebook Page and make yourself the admin of your Page or connect your WhatsApp number to Business Manager.
Create ads that click to WhatsApp
If you see six campaign objectives, you can follow these steps:
To create ads that click to WhatsApp from Ads Manager:
- Go to Ad creation within Ads Manager.
- Choose your objective.
Ads with the Engagement objective
Note: Conversions optimisation is unavailable in selected EU countries, Japan and South Korea.
3. Choose your campaign budget and click Next.
4. Under conversion location, select messaging apps.
5. In the Messaging apps section, select WhatsApp.
6. Under Ad type, select Click to message.
7. For ads using Engagement objective, in the Accounts section, go to WhatsApp and select the relevant WhatsApp number from the drop-down menu.
8. Choose your audience, placements, budget and schedule, and click Next.
9. Select your ad format and complete your ad setup.
10. Click + Create to create your flow. Click Save and finish when you've finished.
11. Click Publish to publish your ad.
You can create an ad that clicks to WhatsApp with a WhatsApp number that's either connected to your Facebook Page or your Business Manager.
Ads with the Traffic and Sales objectives
3. Choose your campaign budget and click Next.
4. Under conversion location, select WhatsApp
5. Choose the relevant Facebook Page. The WhatsApp number connected to your Facebook Page will be the one connected with the campaign.
6. Choose your audience, placements, budget and schedule, and click Next.
7. Select your ad format and complete your ad setup.
8. Click + Create to create your flow. Click Save and finish when you've finished.
9. Click Publish to publish your ad.

If you see more than six campaign objectives in Ads Manager, follow these steps:
To create ads that click to WhatsApp from Ads Manager:
- Go to Ad creation within Ads Manager.
- Choose your objective.
Ads with Traffic, Website conversions or Messages objectives:
Note: Conversions optimisation for the Messages objective is unavailable in selected EU countries, Japan and South Korea.
3. Choose your campaign budget and click Next.
4. Under Ad type, select WhatsApp.
5. Select a Page connected with WhatsApp or select Connect WhatsApp to connect a Page.
6. For ads using Message objectives, in the Accounts section, go to WhatsApp and select the relevant WhatsApp number from the drop-down menu. For all other objectives, it will be the WhatsApp number connected to your Facebook Page.
7. Choose your audience, placements, budget and schedule, and click Next.
8. Select your ad format and complete your ad setup.
9. Click Publish to publish your ad.
You can create an ad that clicks to WhatsApp with a WhatsApp number that's either connected to your Facebook Page or your Business Manager.
Ads with Reach, Brand awareness, Engagement or Video views objectives:
3. Choose your campaign budget and click Next.
4. Choose your audience, placements, budget and schedule, and click Next.
5. Under Links, click Add website URL.
6. Add the URL of your business website.
7. Under Call to action, select Send WhatsApp message.
8. Select your Page with the WhatsApp number connected in the drop-down menu.
9. Click Publish to publish your ad.
