Create a sponsored message

Certain messaging-related metrics, ad campaigns and organic messaging features for businesses and ads delivered to and from Europe and Japan will be unavailable.

Sponsored messages let you send offers, promotions and updates directly to the people who your business talks to on Messenger.
Note: Your Page must have enough existing conversations to create sponsored messages through a Custom Audience.
Create a sponsored message
To create a sponsored message:
- Go to Ad creationwithin Ads Manager.
- Under Choose a campaign objective, choose the engagement objective.
- Create a campaign name and then click Next.
- Under conversion location, select Messaging apps.
- Under "Ad type", use the drop-down menu to select Sponsored message.
- Choose your budget and schedule.
- Under Audience, you can choose to Create a new audience or Use a saved audience by clicking Show advanced options (optional).
- Sponsored messages will not be sent to conversations that have been active in the past 24 hours or inactive for over one year, though these parameters are subject to change. Only one sponsored message will be delivered per person, per ad set.
- Click Next.
- Under Message template, select the format Text only or Text and image.
- Type your message and upload a photo (optional).
- You can add quick replies or buttons to your message under Customer actions.
- Quick replies are preset bubbles that are shown to customers to start and guide the conversation.
- Finish editing your ad and click Publish.
Most sponsored messages are delivered within 24 hours of campaign start, but we recommend advertisers run sponsored messages campaigns for at least five days to maximise delivery.
