About Meta's advertising policy on Unacceptable Business Practices

We want people to have positive experiences with ads on our technologies and to connect with businesses in meaningful ways. This is why we don't allow advertisers to run ads that promote products, services, schemes or offers that use identified deceptive or misleading practices, including scams to take money from people or access personal information.

Best practices to avoid misleading ad experiences

Here are some best practices for advertisers that may help avoid inadvertent violations of our Unacceptable Business Practices advertising policy.

  • Provide a cohesive experience. Use consistent branding throughout your ad experience, including the Facebook Page and/or Instagram account, ad content and landing page.
  • Provide clear information on the product that you're selling in your ad and on your ad's landing page. This information should describe the product or service and its features, and set realistic expectations around its functionality.
  • Create a reputable presence on Facebook, Instagram, and your landing page, such as providing information on how customers can contact you with questions. If your business is new to Facebook or Instagram, use your organic presence to provide information about your business and demonstrate trustworthiness, such as creating profile pictures and posts that clearly align with your brands and products.
  • Build trust with your customers. Advertise products that align with the experience that you provide. Avoid creating negative experiences.
  • Ensure that your ad's landing page is functioning properly and the content is relevant to your ad. Directing people to irrelevant content or an unexpected landing page can create a confusing and negative experience.

In addition to reviewing the ad experience, we take into account feedback from people about the purchase experience. If an advertiser receives a significant amount of negative feedback, this may lead to ads receiving lower reach for the same budget, disallowing a Page from advertising or other actions.
