Why ads may face restrictions when using certain domains

To help protect the safety of our community, we may restrict your ability to direct ads to violating or suspicious domains (landing pages). If your domain has been restricted, you may continue to advertise using a non-restricted domain.

Restricting violating or suspicious domains helps people have a positive experience when they click on your ad, and helps us build a quality and brand-safe environment for advertisers, publishers and people.

To help identify violating and suspicious domains, we perform continuous reviews of domains using a variety of signals, including, but not limited to, feedback from users and a domains’ association with ad accounts that become disabled because of policy violations and payment risk. When a domain is identified as violating or suspicious, all ads that direct users to the domain will be rejected.

Once a domain has been identified as violating or suspicious, it’s blocked from use in ads for 60 days, after which the domain is unblocked. The 60-day window repeats if we detect that violating or suspicious activities from ad accounts are linked to the domain.

As we work to keep our technologies safe, we’ll continue to evaluate the length of this blocking period and may update it in the future.

Ads using restricted domains will be rejected with the following message:

“Ads must not promote restricted domains. Please use a non-restricted domain to continue advertising.”

If your ad is rejected for using a restricted domain, try editing your ad and using a different domain that meets Meta’s Advertising Standards.

Once you’ve saved your changes, your ad will be resubmitted to be reviewed again.
