How to set up your Meta pixel with a business account

The Meta pixel is a piece of code that's put on a business's website that logs conversion events by people on a particular page. The data captured by the pixel can help you build audiences and inform insights about how people interact with your website. To add your pixel to your business portfolio, you need to create a dataset or add it to an existing dataset. Learn more about datasets.
You may want to create a dataset and set up your pixel using a business portfolio if:
- Your business has a business portfolio.
- Someone else manages your Meta ads.
- If your business has more than one website or more than one major product or service.
- If you want to take advantage of the pixel's measurement capabilities but you're not ready to start creating ads.
If you would prefer to create a dataset using your individual ad account, learn how to set up and install a pixel.
Note: You can create up to 100 datasets in your business portfolio. If you reach the limit of 100 datasets in your business portfolio but you need to create another dataset, you can either:
- Create a new ad account within a different business portfolio. Or create a new ad account that isn't part of a business portfolio. Then, you can create one new dataset in your new ad account. You can also assign access to the new ad account and new dataset to your business portfolio.
- Create a second business portfolio, which will let you create an additional 100 datasets.
Before you begin
- You must have access to a business portfolio. If you don't, you can create one.
- You must have full control of the business portfolio.
Remember that you can't delete a dataset or transfer it to another business portfolio. Learn more about how to share your Meta pixel instead.
